Alexander Tinei, Dark Water, 2012

Six figures plunge into cold dark waters, bent over, seemingly looking for something beneath the water’s surface. It’s a terrifying image. What are these poor vulnerable souls doing?

When asked about the storyline, Tinei wrote “I was interested in contrast. I did several paintings with the same theme in mind – that is, the dark background and shining bodies.” The artist isn’t giving away any secrets.
