Paul Fenniak, Encounter, 2008

A man and a woman have come upon one another using their detectors. She has taken off her earphones and holds her detector high while embracing; she is done searching, for she has found what she is looking for; he leaves his detector on the ground. Maybe he’s just not that into her.

Fenniak states “With enough manipulation, with light effects, things are not just a description of the outside world but they begin to symbolize something else – a subjective experience, I’m not trying to create a psychological thesis about it, I’m just trying to get images that are true to those feelings, true to those experiences.”
