Alan MacDonald, Man Without a Plan, 2010

A happy-go-lucky man sits in a wagon contraption as it whizzes through the landscape. The man is accompanied only by his dog as he has a little celebratory drink. A lute rests upon his leg; an instrument that usually represents love and romance, but there doesn’t seem to be a love interest in sight. One does wonder what (or who) the man is looking at just outside our frame of reference.

The artist writes that “I see him as a guy who just goes with the flow in life and is content with his lot. However, that’s just my interpretation and others are very welcome.”
