This painting belongs to a series about a post-apocalyptic re-emergence of humanity. The artist explains that the series is about “starting over but with all the knowledge of our previous mistakes. ‘Rebuild’ is about rebuilding our relationship with our environment, with nature and with the other creatures we share the earth with… the figure has more of a serious expression because it isn’t supposed to be a new utopian world, rather we are carrying with us the memories of our mistakes and it is our responsibility to put great efforts into correcting and avoiding our previous decisions.”
