Kevin McSherry, The Death of Reason, 2019

There is a lot to take in here. To start, we look down upon the room as if we’re watching through a CC camera mounted in the corner, bringing up ideas about surveillance. On the table lies the personification of Reason being poked and prodded by a slug, a robot, and a lobster. A man at the foot of the bed observes and takes notes.

“”I added figures as they came to mind. That robot is ‘Dalek.’ The Daleks are characters in a very long running TV series in the UK called Dr Who. They’re always evil and heartless! All the figures are attending the death and are probably the cause of it: TV, newspapers, and the media generally […] I don’t want to reveal everything but it is about how I feel the world is hell-bent on reversing reason.”
