Greg Hergert, Scrapper, 2016

Hergert is one of us narrative artists here in Portland. We adore him and his work. Hergert shows us the dark underbelly of the city but often adds a little whimsy, which lightens up the tone and injects humor.

Of this painting he writes “I walked by this guy as he whooshed a skill saw between his legs with the joy of making money off others’ junk. The scrapper subculture is a world I have indulged in and I am rather fond of the messy outlaws that live the life.”

Check out the Lives of the Artists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4ZD6zRs9qM for a recent interview with Hergert. He also has an upcoming solo exhibition at Chaos Gallery https://www.chaosgallerypdx.com/ opening March 5th!
