Jakub Schikaneder, Murder in the House, 1890

Concerned neighbours look on a gruesome scene of a bloody young woman lying dead in the street in the Prague Jewish quarter. The shutters on the house behind her appear to have been ripped off and there’s a hole in the window, suggesting a break-in. We see a bloody hand print in the door frame of the house.
It’s possible that one of the onlookers was the perpetrator – criminals often return to the scene of the crime, right?
