Greg Hergert, Hit the Road, 2020

Tonight! Come see this fun painting at the exhibition closing for ‘Understanding Ourselves,’ on now at the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, OR. Artists in the show will be there to chat about their work. There are some COVID restrictions on attendance numbers, so reserve your entry here.

Hergert says “The city is always a metaphor of hard work and intense living, and sometimes its inhabitants just give up and live on the streets. In the midst of working hard to survive the rigors of modern life, it is not uncommon to imagine the fantasy of just leaving it all behind and hitting the road in search of fun and adventure.” By replacing people with animals, the serious theme of life on the streets takes on a lighthearted, humorous tone.
